THENERVOUSBREAKDOWN.COM is an international online cultural magazine and literary community based in Los Angeles featuring upcoming and established writers from around the world in quality fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and podcasts.

Reading at the event will be Steve Abee, Dennis Cruz, and Milo Martin.


Steve Abee began writing as an orderly at St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica. He has previously published three books, King Planet, The Bus; Ejaculations of the Daily Mind in Transit, and Great Balls of Flowers. He teaches middle school English and lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters.



Dennis Cruz has been writing and performing poetry in Los Angeles for over 30 years. His latest collection of poetry Moth Wing Tea is published by punk hostage press.


Milo Martin, a native Californian originally from the Monterey Peninsula and the San Francisco Bay Area, found his way down to Los Angeles, coming up in the now-legendary East Hollywood ONYX poetry scene in the mid-late ‘90s.
He has hosted and performed at numerous poetry events in and around Los Angeles including Beyond Baroque, Loyola Marymount University, The ONYX, El Camino College, Tongue & Groove @ Hotel Café, The Rapp Saloon, Spaceland, Silverlake Lounge, The Echo and The Echoplex and numerous others.
He co-founded the original Hollywood/Silver Lake Poetry Slam Team in 1997, later
winners of the National Poetry Slam in 2004 and 2005.
He received his Master’s Degree from the University of Southern California in 2004,
studying with the likes of Hubert Selby Jr., Aram Saroyan, Marvin Bell, Clayton
Eschleman, and Holly Prado.
He is a Nu-Beat, following in the direct Beat lineage, meeting with such luminaries as
Allen Ginsberg, Jack Micheline, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and Diane DiPrima.
Subsequently, he has toured America and Europe extensively, both solo and with the
international poetry troupe, POESIE UNITED, performing his intense brand of
metaphysical melancholy image-shooting spoken word at international literary festivals,
rock venues, libraries, and universities. His work has been translated into five languages
(German, Italian, French, Croatian, and Estonian).
He is the author of Poems for the Utopian Nihilist, {Echo Park Press 2008}.
Milo Martin is a champion of Animal Rights, continuing his crusade via the raising of
consciousness in his literary work, spoken word performances, and everyday efforts.
He is considered to be one of the main progenitors of the Utopian Nihilist poetry/art
movement of the early 21st Century.
His new collection of poetry entitled Sublemon/Sublime will be published in 2017.
